What do I need to do to get ready for the procedure?
Prior to your Vampire HairGrowth® appointment, we need to make sure your scalp is ready for your treatment!
Please note the following:
- Avoid alcohol and blood thinners 48 hours prior to treatment.
- Make sure you have talked to Dr. Esmay about your blood thinners if you use them. He may have specific instructions for you.
- Avoid sun exposure, laser treatments, and tanning beds 2 weeks prior to treatment.
- If you suffer from cold sores, make sure you have talked to Dr. Esmay as you may want to consider an anti-viral to help prevent possible break out.
- The use of the Zenagen® hair products, especially the shampoo, is highly recommended prior to treatment. We have that available as well as Throne® supplements that may help you have a better result.

Vampire HairGrowth® After Care Instructions
You will be sent home with some remaining plasma. Please reapply topically to scalp every 2-3 hours for the first 8 hours after returning home. The next morning you can take a cool shower and rinse and shampoo your scalp.
Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen, Motrin, or Advil for
one week.
Use Tylenol as needed for soreness.
Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for two weeks. After 24 hours, always use a full spectrum sunscreen SPF 30 or above. When exposed to the sun, wear a hat and apply sunscreen every two hours.
DAYS 1-3
A sunburn-like effect is normal. The skin will feel tight, dry, and sensitive to the touch. Treat skin gently, washing with a gentle cleanser, cool water, using hands only and pat dry no earlier than 4 hours after treatment. Redness or sensitivity might well be present. Some small bruising is common with PRP injections and may last up to 5-7 days, and swelling can last 2-4 days, depending on how aggressive of a treatment you received.
The next day you can use shampoo. We recommend the use of Zenagen ® hairline and have it available if you are interested.
Occasionally, some people may see some “swelling” in their face from a scalp treatment. This is PRP that has spread into your face. There is no harm if this happens. It will have the same rejuvenation affect to your face as it does to your scalp. The “swelling” will disappear within 48 hours.
At this point supplements are also important in your results. We have supplements available if you would like to know more.
Plan social calendar accordingly!
- Avoid strenuous exercises that cause sweating. Avoid jacuzzi, sauna, or steam baths for 24 hours after treatment due to open pores, or up to 48 hours if redness exists.
DAYS 3-5
Peeling may start 3-5 days after treatment. You will notice skin dryness and flaking. This is due to an increased turnover of skin cells. Do not pick, scratch, or scrub at treated skin! Allow old skin to flake off naturally and KEEP SKIN MOISTURIZED AT ALL TIMES. For extra dry skin, apply moisturizer every two hours if needed.
When will I see my results?
- Earliest signs of new hair growth are 4 weeks.
- Typically, you can expect to see hair growth at 6-8 weeks.
- Maximal effect of 1 treatment is seen at 4-6 months.
