Priapus Shot® (P-Shot®) for Men

As we age, many men and women suffer some level of sexual dysfunction. Healthy sexual functioning affects many aspects of our lives: it leads to more joy, creativity, confidence, less depression and improved overall health.

We may be able to help both Men and Women find sexual health improvement without surgeries and medication utilizing their own healing power. Men can find improvement with the Priapus-Shot® (P-Shot®) . Women can benefit from the Orchid-Shot ® (O-Shot®) for women.

Men’s Sexual Health

Some men (about 5% of men in their 40s and 15% – 25% of men age 65+) the cause of their sexual difficulty is more complex and results in frequent episodes of Erectile Dysfunction (ED). This can be devastating as it erodes self-confidence and their sense of virility. It can even contribute to depression, a feeling of hopelessness and loss of manhood. A strong erection is dependent on four factors: brain stimulation (libido), healthy nerve function, good penile circulation and the ability of the veins to ‘trap’ the blood in the penis. All this is taken for granted – until something stops working.

Many men find that the Priapus Shot® (P-Shot®) helps bring balance back into their sexual lives.

What is P-Shot® for Men?

Priapus is a word of Latin derivation and refers to the Greek god of fertility. The name penis is also based on this word (hence, the term P-Shot®). This procedure is the brain-child of Dr. Charles Runels and consists of injecting Platelet Rich Plasma into the cavernosum of the penis. This simple, safe, and relatively painless procedure (the penis is numbed beforehand with a powerful anesthetic cream) only takes about 30 minutes.

Benefits of the Priapus Procedure include:

  • Improved firmness and strength of erection.
  • Improved effectiveness of other therapies (such as Viagra®).
  • Increased penile sensitivity.
  • Increased libido and intensity of orgasm.
  • Enlargement (1/2 – 1 inch) of penile girth (first) and length (later) in over 60% of males.

There is no downtime and sexual relations can be resumed immediately.  Results begin to manifest around 3 weeks.  Full results are appreciated at 3 months and are maintained for about a year. If a second injection is desired, it is done 8 – 10 weeks after the first.

BOCOX™

In his continuous pursuit of improving sexual health and function in males, Dr. Runels has developed an additional treatment for ED: Bocox™ or BoPriapus™.  As the name would suggest, this is the application of Botox® to the penis.  The mechanism of action is twofold:

  • Botox® relaxes the smooth muscle that controls arterial blood flow in the penis. This in turn results in dilation of these vessels.  More blood flow equates to stronger erections.  This is similar to the way Cialis® and Viagra® works.
  • It is also believed that Botox® causes an increase in parasympathetic nerve tone thusly contributing to increase firmness of the erection.

Bocox™ injections are similar to those used for the P-Shot®.  A topical numbing cream is applied and when numb, the injections are given.  This can be a stand-alone treatment or it can be combined with a P-Shot® to further potentiate the benefits of each.

If ED is something you’ve been suffering from or if you’re frustrated with your sex life and would like to increase sexual satisfaction, it may be time to explore the possibilities of a P-Shot®.

What do I need to do to get ready for the procedure?

Prior to your P-Shot® appointment, we need to make sure you are ready for your treatment!

Please note the following:

  • Avoid alcohol and blood thinners 48 hours prior to treatment.
  • Make sure you have talked to Dr. Esmay about your blood thinners if you use them.  He may have specific instructions for you.

P-Shot® After Care Instructions

You may wash the treated area with gentle soap and water to help remove the numbing cream.  Once your numbing medicine has worn off, you are free to go back to your normal lifestyle.

You may see redness and swelling in the treated area.  This is normal and should resolve by 3 days.

There are no restrictions on sexual activity.  When you feel ready, you are ready.

Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) and Aleve for one week. An inflammatory response is the goal for regenerative benefit and will be decreased with these medications.

Use Tylenol as needed for soreness.

If you suffer from genital herpes, make sure you have talked with Dr. Esmay as you may want to consider an anti-viral to help prevent possible break out.
