Xeomin Injections

What is Xeomin?

In 2010, the FDA authorized Xeomin for use in treating a variety of medical issues in addition to glabellar lines (also known as fine lines). Xeomin is used cosmetically to reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes.

Xeomin is form botulinum toxin that relaxes facial muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Xeomin, like other neuromodulators, is injected into your muscles to minimize movement and, by extension, wrinkles, whereas filler is an injected hyaluronic acid-based gel used to plump up an area.

Xeomin and Botox have been authorized as treatments for frown lines between the eyebrows. Although this list is far from exhaustive, Xeomin has several off-label applications, including the treatment of frown lines, crow’s feet, TMJ, teeth grinding, and hyperhidrosis. So many conditions can be helped by it.

Benefits of Xeomin

In 2011, Xeomin gained FDA approval for the treatment of glabellar lines, and since then, it has provided patients with several advantages. Benefits include:

  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles between the brows, on the forehead, around the eyes, and/or around the lips.
  • Helps smooth wrinkles
  • Rapid healing periods after treatment
  • Contains no unnecessary additives
  • Less prone to cause numbing or tolerance

What is the difference between Xeomin and Botox?

Xeomin has a “naked” version of botulinum toxin, which is the fundamental distinction between it and Botox. Xeomin is constructed to deliver the toxin without any protein additions, unlike Botox, which includes accessory proteins. Antibody resistance is a rising concern with botulinum toxin injections, but this refined structure may help avoid it.

A potential benefit of Xeomin is that, because it is produced using a novel and precise process that isolates the botulinum toxin molecule and removes all extra surrounding proteins, there is less of a chance that the body will develop antibodies that will render the product ineffective. In addition, Xeomin may be more effective and have a longer duration of action due to the purity of its toxin.
